Outdoor Learning
Explore.
Discover.
Grow.
At Riverstone Academy, outdoor learning provides opportunities for pupils to explore, discover and develop beyond the classroom. Through carefully planned experiences in woodland and coastal environments, children build confidence, independence, resilience and positive relationships while developing a connection with the natural world.
Our approach is adapted to individual starting points, ensuring every pupil has opportunities to participate, experience success and develop at their own pace.

Our outdoor space provides opportunities for children to learn, play, explore and develop new skills within a familiar and supportive environment.
Through our outdoor classroom, sand play, gardening area and opportunities for games and practical activities, pupils can engage in hands-on learning that encourages curiosity, creativity, cooperation and independence.
Whether growing plants, exploring materials, taking part in team games or enjoying practical learning activities, our outdoor provision supports physical development, communication, problem-solving and wellbeing.
These everyday experiences also provide opportunities for pupils to build confidence and develop skills that can be extended through our Forest School-inspired and Beach School-inspired learning.
